Be Their Hero

JCHS Special Needs & Exotic Breeds
Jefferson County Humane Society (JCHS) sometimes welcomes unique cat/dog breeds as well as cats/dogs with disabilities, all of whom deserve special care and loving homes. These incredible animals can live happy, fulfilling lives and offer immense affection to the families who adopt them.
At JCHS, we are committed to matching these wonderful cats & dogs with dedicated owners who understand their specific needs. Some of them that come into our care may also be disabled or exotic breeds that require particular care, such as a specialized diet, adequate space, and extra attention to help them thrive.
If you’re looking for a distinctive and loving companion and are ready to provide a little extra care and patience, one of these amazing animals could be the perfect fit for you. They are ready to bring joy, companionship, and unconditional love into your life.
Cats/Kittens
Meet our Savannah F7 kittens. This breed needs LOTS of interaction and play time. Speck and Safina are together in foster. Santu and Simba are together in foster. We want to adopt them as pairs – they need each other because of their energy and need to be active. They will need to be INDOOR only cats and we do not allow declawing. We will be taking applications and interviewing prospective adopters.
We want to make sure you know what these kittens/cats need in a home.
We encourage you to do some research about Savannahs, especially F7s.
The fosters have also provided some great information!
Meet Stacey's Foster's
Meet Jo & Dans Foster's
These two are incredibly playful and full of personality. They get along well with other cats (once they get to know them) and are comfortable around dogs, as long as the dogs respect their space. They are also great with kids and have very gentle, loving temperaments. Both love attention and enjoy snuggling—whether it’s curling up next to you or sitting right in your lap for cuddles.
Simba is adorable and so sweet. He has so much unbridled energy. He's funny and loves to play with his toys and brother. He is a fearless kitten and loves other cats in the house.
He is respectful of the dogs but gives them lots of space.
Suntu always wakes up purring. He is super active and will play with you and a string toy until you give up! He is wary of the dogs and gives them their space but isn't aggressive toward them at all.
He loves to play with his sibling and foster brother.
