GET INVOLVED
How can I help?
There are several ways to get involved here at Jefferson County Humane Society from volunteering, fostering, or participating in our many fun events throughout the year. No matter the age or area of interest, there is a way for everyone to make a difference here at the shelter!
Volunteers are the heart of JCHS
Volunteers give their hearts and their time to provide love and support to the animals in our care. Our volunteers are integral to our shelter, and are involved in all areas of the shelter. As a member of our volunteer family, you’ll help save and enrich the animal’s lives, improve animal welfare in our community, discover new skills, and enjoy plenty of wagging tails, purring hearts, and wet kisses along the way. Can I crash at your place?
Being a foster is an experience that is as rewarding as it is fulfilling. Fosters help raise puppies and kittens, help to heal the sick, and mend broken hearts.
Fosters are people willing to open both their homes and their hearts to help some of our animals in need of extra TLC. Some animals may simply need a quiet place to recuperate from an injury or illness, some may need extra attention, and some are animals who are not adapting to shelter life and need a safe place to stay until they are adopted. Above all, they need a lot of love and support from anyone willing to give it to them! Learn More
